    The Movie:
    “The Outlaw Josey Wales” (1976), directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, tells the story of a Missouri farmer whose life is shattered by the Civil War. After witnessing the brutal murder of his family by Union soldiers, Josey Wales joins a Confederate guerrilla band to seek revenge.

    The war ends, but Wales refuses to surrender, becoming an outlaw pursued by vengeful Union Captain Terrill and his Redlegs. He embarks on a journey westward, gathering a makeshift family of outcasts along the way, including an old Cherokee man, Lone Watie, and a young Navajo woman.

    Wales’s journey is one of survival and redemption. He is a man haunted by loss and driven by a fierce sense of justice. Despite his violent past, he displays compassion and loyalty towards his companions. The film explores themes of revenge, forgiveness, and the search for peace in a turbulent time. Eastwood’s portrayal of Wales is iconic, embodying the stoic and rugged individualism that defines many of his Western characters.

    The Colt Walker was created in the mid-1840s in a collaboration between Texas Ranger Captain Samuel Hamilton Walker (1817–1847) and American firearms inventor Samuel Colt (1814–62), building upon the earlier Colt Paterson design. Walker wanted a handgun that was extremely powerful at close range.

    The Colt Walker holds a powder charge of 60 grains (3.9 g) in each chamber, more than twice what a typical black powder revolver holds. It weighs 4+1⁄2 pounds (2 kg) unloaded, has a 9-inch (230 mm) barrel, and fires a .44 caliber (0.454 in (11.5 mm) diameter) conical and round ball.

    In the 1968 book True Grit, 14-year-old Mattie carries a Colt Dragoon. However, possibly due to the Walker’s bigger size, a cartridge-converted Colt Walker was used as Mattie’s weapon in the 1969 film based on the book, though Wayne’s character referred to it as a Colt Dragoon nonetheless. In the 2010 remake of the film by the Coen Brothers, she carries a Dragoon, as originally described in the book.

    This holster is made from 8-9oz vegetable tanned leather. This is important because vegetable tanned leather will not tarnish your firearm as other methods of tanned leather are prone to do.
